What is a voltage divider?

A voltage divider is a passive linear circuit that produces an output voltage (Vout) that is a fraction of its input voltage (V1). Voltage dividers are used to adjust signal levels, bias active devices and amplifiers, and measure voltages.

Ohm's lawrelates voltage, current, and resistance — the current through a conductor between two points is proportional to the potential difference between them.

This law describes the relationship between the voltage difference between two points, the current flowing between them, and the resistance of the current path. It is expressed as V = IR, where V is the voltage difference, I is the current in amperes, and R is the resistance in ohms. For a known voltage, the larger the resistance, the smaller the current.
